Meet the Team

Khai C Ang, Ph.D.
Principal Investigator
Assistant Professor, Dept of Pathology
Scientific Director, Penn State Zebrafish Facility
I'm a geneticist and biological anthropologist who studies pigmentation; basically, why living things are the colors they are. Zebrafish and daphnia do a lot of the heavy lifting in my research.
Away from the bench, I love swimming and diving (any excuse to be in the water), and I'll happily travel a long way for good food. Proud foodie. Penangite at heart!

Her current research focuses on gastrointestinal toxicology, utilizing zebrafish models and computed tomography (CT) imaging to investigate the comparative anatomy and morphology of the zebrafish intestine under pathological conditions. Through this work, she aims to improve the understanding of intestinal structure and its applications in biomedical research. In addition to her research, Abby is actively involved in anatomical education, teaching physician assistant and medical students at Penn State College of Medicine. She earned her bachelor's degree in human biology from Michigan State University before beginning her doctoral training.
